A Premier College Counseling Program for Ambitious Students in Ethiopia
About the Program
The Scholarbridge College guidance counseling program is a year-long, intensive college counseling program designed to support high-potential high school students in Ethiopia with aspirations to attend world-class universities abroad.
We select 30 exceptional students, including 4 full scholarship recipients, and guide them through every step of the university application journey. From building a personalized college list to submitting applications and preparing for VISA interviews.

Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking students who are:
- Academically strong (with a high school average of 85% or above)
- Involved in extracurricular or leadership activities
- Ambitious, globally-minded, and driven to make an impact
- Currently in Grade 11 or 12 (2024/25 school year), or exceptional recent Grade 12 graduates from 2023/24

Students will have regular meetings with their counselors to discuss application strategy, college selection, essay brainstorming… and all things related to college application.
Full access to ECP’s online courses, free of charge for Scholarbridge students
Students will be taught how to write good college essays and will also receive unlimited editing from their counselors until they are fully satisfied with their essay.
Students will receive guidance on application cycle selection, college selection, building a spike in their application, crafting an impactful story… Students will also have their application thoroughly reviewed before it is submitted to colleges.
We will help you navigate and negotiate the merit-based and need-based financial aid process so you receive the best financial aid or scholarship offer at your top-choice school.
Support for brainstorming, drafting, and refining your essays (Personal Statement and supplemental essays)
In preparation for VISA interviews, we offer mock interview sessions and prepare you for common questions, providing you with valuable insights and feedback to ensure that you are able to present yourself in the best possible light.
Once you have gotten your VISA, we will provide you with the training you need on how to survive and thrive in a new country. We will teach all things you need to know from creating bank accounts and acquiring credit cards to work-study options and college time management tips.
Our support does not end when you have entered college; we will check on you to make sure you are navigating this transition well. We will follow up on your progress in college and provide recommendations when needed.
Acceptance Criteria
We will be accepting30 students into this program. Here are the criteria for acceptance.
- Last year's class grade final average should be 85% and above.
- If you have strong extracurriculars, we also consider 80% and above
- SAT greater than1350 but not a strict cutoff. We will look at all aspects of your application to make a decision
- ACT greater than28 but not a strict cutoff. We will look at all aspects of your application to make a decision
- We determine your writing and English proficiency skills through our application essays and through our interview. Note: please don’t use AI on the application essay because we will cross-check and there will also be an interview to test your actual skill level
- Strong extracurricular activities. You should be very active outside of academics and have various extracurricular activities that stand out from your peers.
- 85% and above

Pricing and payment plan
The total price for this program is 75,000 birr paid in 3 rounds. This comes out to 6,250 per month.

Here are the criteria to apply for a scholarship:
- Acceptance requirements stated for the program should be met.
- Anyone from an economically disadvantaged background (with evidence). We will be fact checking your financial information when we work with you on your financial aid application for college. Please do not falsify any information. This opportunity should be given to students who actually need the scholarship and can’t attend the program without it.
Applicants from war-torn and conflict areas (with Internet access), orphans and students with disabilities are encouraged to apply for the scholarship!

Hikma studied Economics with Finance minor at New York University Abu Dhabi. She is currently a counselor at ECP and a junior cloud consultant and cloud training assistant (CTA) at Nedamco Africa. She likes to read fiction books and sketching in her free time.
Netsanet Meles
Duke Kunshan Univeristy
Netsanet graduated from Duke Kunshan University with a degree in Ethics and Leadership and a concentration in philosophy. She is currently a counselor at ECP and a production and operations coordinator at an art gallery. She likes to journal, knit and learn new languages.
Meron Dereje
University of Maryland Baltimore County
Meron is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Creative Writing. She's been working with ECP as an essay writer and student mentor. When she can, Meron enjoys reading theory and writing poetry.

Our Program Manager Abel K. Fekadu is the CEO and Co-founder of Ethio College Prep and has studied at University at Buffalo. Running the company for 5 years, he has extensive experience in helping students succeed in both their SAT exams and their college applications. He is currently the College Guidance Counselor at Lebawi International Academy as well.
